The Impact You Make On A Business!

A new job or career path is an exciting time in a person’s life! It is a chance to explore new opportunities and gain experience in an industry you want to learn more about.  While a job has a huge impact on your personal life, the way you present yourself and act, has a direct impact on the company itself.

Read on to learn more!

Attitude

First impressions are everything!  The attitude and vibes you give off to your new co-workers really set the tone for your job path.  Try to always maintain an open mind and be positive in all of your interactions!  Toxicity and negative thoughts lead to poor productivity and motivation, which is not something you want to contribute to. Demonstrate your ability to find the good in change and be flexible as a new person in the workplace can take some time to adjust to.

Be A Team Player

Teamwork is important because it enables your team to share ideas and responsibilities, which helps reduce stress on everyone, allowing them to be accurate and thorough when completing tasks. If you see a team member struggling with their work load and you are completed yours, offer assistance to help get the job done in a timely manner.  Most businesses have a ‘one team one goal’ philosophy, so lend an extra hand wherever you can!

Attendance

During your probationary period at your new job, attendance is one of the key items evaluated along with your job performance.  If you regularly miss your shift or are late, you are creating more work for other people on your team which has a negative impact on their feelings towards you, their ability to get their own jobs done (as they are working to also cover yours) and it can also delay the services provided to their own customers.  Another thing to think about is that usually if you aren’t at work – you aren’t getting paid!  So create good habits and try to go to work every day!

Availability

Be truthful about your availability to work.  Do not accept a shift schedule that does not work with your personal or school life/balance.  More and more employers are seeing job seekers agreeing to working certain schedules and not showing up for their shifts or changing their available hours of work once they receive the job offer.  This negatively impacts your reputation for being truthful and meeting the obligations of a job you have agreed to do.
